I have rented textbooks from Chegg. Only one problem- if you ship the book back late you are charged a fee; after a seemingly short grace period, you are charged the purchase price of the book listed on their website. Be sure to record the date the rentals need to be returned. Chegg does not send additional status report emails or reminders after the initial rental.

I rented textbooks from Chegg this past semester and everything went swimmingly. A previous poster said that she did not received any reminders or updates, I don't know if that changed recently. In my case they called me several weeks into the rental to make sure everything was ok, as well as at the end of the semester to remind me to return my books. I recieved e-mails from them to confirm that they recieved my books back. They purchased one of the books that I did not rent from them for a decent buy-back price, and I was easily able to convert to purchase several books I initially rented but decided I wanted to keep.

I think the only downfall of renting from Chegg is not selling the books back. For instance, I can buy the book for $10 more than the renting price, but I get $35 back after selling it. In the long run, aren't you really paying more to rent, in most cases?
